Centenary University’s Biology program will provide you with a strong foundation in the field of biology while you also explore a wide variety of interests within the natural sciences. Our Biology degree programs include:
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology with a concentration in Forensic Science
Our Biology program provides a well-rounded education in both the liberal arts and sciences. Students take core courses in biology, chemistry, physics, animal and human anatomy, ecology, microbiology and calculus and advance to higher-level classes in areas including genetics and biochemistry.
The Forensic Science concentration blends Biology with courses in Criminal Justice to prepare you for a career as a scientist in a crime lab.
A Focus On Research
Our Biology students also have many opportunities to participate in scientific research, including working right alongside a primary investigator in an academic or professional organization. Students engaged in research are encouraged and supported in their efforts to present their findings at regional, national, and international conferences.

The Next Level
As a Centenary Biology major, you can fulfill all of the requirements for graduate studies in various fields of biology, as well as for veterinary school, medical school and dental school. Our graduates easily transition directly into careers in business, health care and research. Through Centenary’s teacher preparation program, you can also become certified to teach biology in New Jersey.
In addition to our strong academic program, you will be ready for what lies ahead by participating in internships in industries including pharmaceuticals, environmental science and medical science. These internships are matched with students’ interests and often result in employment opportunities after graduation.
