ESL Instructor & International Student Admissions Counselor
Ms. Lauren Lesce serves in the School of International Programs as an ESL Instructor/Tutor. Ms. Lesce received her B.A. in Political Science and Spanish from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo. During her time at SUNY Geneseo, Ms. Lesce participated in a semester long exchange program at the Universidad de Cádiz, in Cádiz, Spain and was a member of the women’s varsity volleyball team.
Ms. Lesce holds an M.A. in Spanish Literature and Language and an M.A. in Linguistic Studies from Syracuse University, where she previously served as a graduate teaching assistant in the ESOL and Spanish departments. She has taught 100 and 200-level courses in Spanish and 200-level ESOL courses focusing on academic reading and writing. While at Syracuse University, she also earned a Certificate of Advanced Studies in TESOL/TLOTE.
Ms. Lesce has experience teaching and developing curriculum for a variety of courses in both ESOL and Spanish. She has taught ESL at Monroe Community College in Rochester, N.Y., and at ELS Language Services in Brockport, N.Y. Additionally, Ms. Lesce has taught high school ESL and Spanish at a first-year charter school, where she served as a teacher and mentor for ninth grade students.
Ms. Lesce’s interest for languages and cultures and desire to help international students succeed brought her to Centenary University, where she works with all of our international students in our ESL classes and in tutoring sessions outside of class.
