Hackettstown, N.J., March 2, 2015 – Centenary University 2014 alumna, Alexandra Poage from Berkeley Heights, has recently secured an internship with the prestigious Atlantic Theater Company in New York City starting later this month.

Founded by playwright David Mamet and actor William H. Macy, Atlantic Theater Company is most recently known as the launching ground for the Broadway sensation, Spring Awakening, among countless critically acclaimed works.

Poage credits her experience at Centenary University in helping her land her internship.  While at Centenary University, she immersed herself in technical theater work for Centenary Stage Company.  Among her list of accomplishments include her work in The Wizard of Oz, How to Pray, West Side Story and many others.  She also completed an internship with the New York City Children’s Theater where she was an Assistant Stage Manager for The Amazing Adventures of Harvey and the Princess.

“I am enthusiastic to embark on this new experience,” says Poage. “This is a wonderful next step in my career.”

Poage also made local news recently when she revisited her former early childhood center, Mary Kay McMillin, when she shifted roles from technical management as a performer in If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.  She was part of this cast through Centenary Stage Company where she also performs at schools and libraries statewide, as well as at Centenary Stage Company itself. She continues to work as a freelance actor with Young Audiences Tour Shows.
