Hackettstown, NJ, March 1, 2018—Centenary University’s Gates-Ferry Distinguished Visiting Lecturer and futurist John Smart presented “Tomorrow is in Your Hands: Creating an Amazing Future” on Feb. 28 before a packed crowd in the Sitnik Theatre on campus. His message: embrace innovation and advanced technologies to succeed in the future.

The CEO of Foresight University, a strategic learning and development company, Smart discussed how accelerating technologies are revolutionizing the way people around the world live and work. The most successful people will welcome advances that are transforming the planet. As evidence, he pointed to revolutionary technologies including:

  • The role of immunology, which is well on the way to finding a cure for cancer
  • Self-driving cars that will soon revolutionize transportation
  • Apps that make investing more accessible and affordable to Millennials
  • Bots like Amazon Echo enhancing entertainment, home security and more

These sweeping changes will affect every aspect of our lives, resulting in a smarter, safer, wealthier and more sustainable world, according to Smart. The lecture reinforced the mission of Centenary University’s Strategic Design Process to promote innovative academic programs and thought that address emerging market needs in a fast-paced global economy.
