Centenary University is committed to maintaining excellence in our educational programs while ensuring accessibility to as many students as possible.  The goal of the Centenary University Financial Aid Office is to provide adequate financial assistance and scholarships for deserving students who show evidence of academic and leadership promise, capability of maintaining satisfactory academic progress in their course of study at Centenary University, and who demonstrate financial need.

Centenary University administers federal, state, and institutional aid to eligible students without regard to gender, race, color, handicap and age and national or ethnic origin. Centenary University administers financial aid in compliance with NCAA Division III guidelines.

The Centenary University Financial Aid Office strives to:

  • Provide support for the delivery of the educational programs offered by Centenary University.
  • Determine financial need in accordance with federal and state guidelines, and to award federal, state and institutional aid in a manner consistent with all applicable guidelines.
  • Be fair in our professional judgment of all cases that are presented to us, and deliver service that is responsive and courteous.
  • Advise and counsel students and families about financial aid through accurate and thorough consumer information.
  • Maintain commitment to the highest level of ethical behavior and refrain from conflict of interest or the perception of conflict of interest.
  • Respect the privacy of students, and to ensure the confidentiality of each student’s individual circumstances and records.
  • Maintain a commitment to professional development and continuing education opportunities of each staff member.

Student Loan Code of Conduct

Centenary University’s Financial Aid Staff, as well as all Centenary University employees who have responsibility with respect to student educational loans (hereinafter referred to collectively as “Centenary”), shall abide by the following provisions:

  • Centenary shall respect and protect a student’s right to choose a lender and shall process loan applications through any lender chosen by a student
  • Centenary shall not maintain a preferred lender list
  • Centenary shall not receive anything of value, including but not limited to, travel, gifts, printing services, staffing services or computers, from any lender in exchange for consideration or advantage with respect to student lending
  • Lenders shall not represent themselves to students or parents as Centenary employees, and lenders shall not staff Centenary’s Financial Aid Office with their employees, except to the extent such staffing is necessary for loan entrance and exit interviews
  • Centenary shall not contract with lenders to provide services relating to student loans
  • Centenary’s employees shall not receive any remuneration from any lender for service on such lender’s advisory board, unless such lender is not directly involved in student lending
  • Centenary shall not offer Opportunity Loans, as defined by the State of New Jersey

Anyone who believes that any provision of this policy has been violated should report such possible violation to:
