Centenary University’s tutoring program is administered by the Academic Success & Advising Center.

The Tutoring Center assists students in becoming independent learners by offering resources and various modes of tutoring to help students succeed. The tutorial program is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association at the highest level. The Tutoring Center staffs both Professional and Peer Tutors. Our Professional Tutors have a post-secondary degree and have completed a tutor training program. Peer Tutors are Centenary University students who have received at least an A- in the courses they tutor and have completed mandatory Peer Tutor Training.

Roles of the Tutor:

  • Be responsive, friendly, and knowledgeable in their subject area
  • Help students become confident and successful learners
  • Encourage students to use strategies that will improve independent learning
  • Uphold the Tutoring Center’s policies and procedures

Roles of the Tutee:

  • Be on time and prepared for each tutoring session
  • Actively participate in tutoring sessions in order to improve mastery of material
  • Uphold the Tutoring Center’s policies and procedures

The Tutoring Center is located in the lower level of the Seay Building. Inside the Tutoring Center, students will find cubicles used for individual tutoring appointments and separate rooms where Drop-In Tutoring often takes place. There are also computers available in the Tutoring Center for student use.

Tutoring Center Hours:

Monday: 9:00am – 10:00pm

Tuesday: 9:00am – 6:00pm

Wednesday: 9:00am – 10:00pm

Thursday: 9:00am – 6:00pm

Friday:  9:00am – 4:30pm

SPS Students

Students enrolled in adult degree programs at the School of Professional Studies (SPS) who are in need of tutoring assistance should complete the tutoring request form available here. Please note that this form is only to be used if you attend the SPS location in Parsippany, NJ and not main campus.
