Centenary University’s Tutoring Program is administered by the Academic Success & Advising Center.

All tutoring begins on Monday, January 25th. Tutor Request Forms can be submitted beginning Friday, January 22nd. Please scroll to the bottom of the page and complete the required fields to submit a form. To view the Spring 2021 Drop-In Tutoring opportunities, please click here or click the “Offerings” link on the right-hand side of the page. Due to Covid-19 regulations, all individual tutoring appointments during the fall semester will be virtual. Drop-In tutoring will be available remotely with limited in-person options.

The Tutoring Center assists students in becoming independent learners by offering resources and various modes of tutoring to help students succeed. The tutorial program is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association at the highest level. The Tutoring Center staffs both Professional and Peer Tutors. Our Professional Tutors have a post-secondary degree and have completed a tutor training program. Peer Tutors are Centenary University students who have received at least an A- in the courses they tutor and have completed mandatory Peer Tutor Training.

Roles of the Tutor:

-Be responsive, friendly, and knowledgeable in their subject area
-Help students become confident and successful learners
-Encourage students to use strategies that will improve independent learning
-Uphold the Tutoring Center’s policies and procedures

Roles of the Student:

-Be on time and prepared for each tutoring session
-Actively participate in tutoring sessions in order to improve mastery of material
-Uphold the Tutoring Center’s policies and procedures

Tutoring Center Resources:

The Tutor Center has many resources available to students including to-do list templates, weekly planners, homework organizers, and materials on note-taking, study strategies, test-taking tips, and more. Tutoring Center Hours:

Monday – Friday: 9:00am – 4:30pm

The Tutoring Center is located in the lower level of the Seay Building. Inside the Tutoring Center, students will find cubicles and rooms that can be used as study space. There are also computers available for student use.

SPS Students

Students enrolled in adult degree programs at the School of Professional Studies (SPS) who are in need of tutoring assistance should complete the tutoring request form available here. Please note that this form is only to be used if you attend the SPS location in Parsippany, NJ and not main campus.
