Biography

Dr. Matthew Beck began his role as Superintendent of Schools of the Sparta Township Public School in June of 2021. Dr. Beck’s administrative career includes roles as high school Vice Principal, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in a high school district, as well as Superintendent roles in a K-6 and K-8 district.

Dr. Beck formerly served as the President of the Sussex County Superintendents’ Roundtable Association (SCSRA) and earned the 2021 SCSRA Superintendent of the Year Award.

Prior to his administrative career, Dr. Beck served as a Social Studies teacher and coached multiple athletic teams on the high school level. Dr. Beck’s teaching career began in the East Orange School District, where he taught Social Studies and coached the JV baseball team. Dr. Beck then taught elementary-level social studies at Fredon Township School before continuing his career teaching Social Studies at Morris County School of Technology, where he also coached JV boys’ soccer and varsity girls’ basketball for four years.

Dr. Beck’s educational background includes a B.A. in Criminology from Wilkes University and an M.A. in Secondary Education from East Stroudsburg University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Centenary University.
