As a student, Cassidy Haller ’21 networked and attended conferences to learn all she could about the business side of sports. Thanks to a sports management conference at SMU she attended with Centenary, she landed an internship with the Orlando Apollos, a team in the start-up Alliance of American Football (AAF). Cassidy says, “I knew this was an opportunity few individuals have during their college years.”

A resume filled with internships—from the YMCA to professional teams in the New York metropolitan area—won Abi Lawal ’16 more than 50 job interviews before his graduation from Centenary University. Now working for the Portland Trail Blazers, he has garnered recognition for sales acumen. But getting there required taking advantage of as many internship opportunities as possible. “It’s all about who you know, who knows you, and what’s on your resume,” Abi says.
