Are you ready to protect and serve your community?

Centenary University’s Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in the Criminal Justice program will prepare you for a rewarding career in any of the three pillars of the criminal justice system – law enforcement, the courts or corrections. Working with a faculty that includes some of New Jersey’s leading experts, students have the opportunity to explore the structure, administration and dynamics of the criminal justice system.

Our Criminal Justice program combines the University’s liberal arts curriculum with courses that investigate the socio-psychological foundations of criminal justice. Your core coursework will include classes in the behavioral sciences as well as the flexibility to choose from a wide range of electives aimed at your particular area of interest.

A Direct Path to Your Career

Centenary has close ties with the local law enforcement community, which can help our Criminal Justice students make connections and learn about career possibilities well before they graduate. As a result of these relationships, Centenary is able to provide its Criminal Justice majors with:

  • Lectures by guest speakers presently working in the criminal justice system.
  • Field trips to criminal justice facilities.
  • Practical experience through internships with various area police departments, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Jersey Judiciary (probation and drug courts), federal agencies and many more.
  • Specialized programs such as our Certificate in Criminalistics – the only program of its kind in New Jersey.

Our biggest advantage is that our graduates are frequently hired by the police agency in which they worked as an intern.

A Name in the Field

You will find Centenary graduates in all of the region’s major criminal justice organizations including the New Jersey State Police, New York City Police Department, the Port Authority Police of New York and New Jersey and the Offices of the United States Attorneys.

That includes students in other majors who have taken advantage of our 16-credit minor in Criminal Justice.
