That person in the office who can write well — he or she always gets noticed.
Clear writing isn’t just an “extra” skill to have in the workplace. It’s essential.
Our minor in Professional Writing will help you learn how to write well and understand the expectations for workplace writing. Through this program, you will learn how to respond seamlessly to a variety of writing situations and needs.
The Professional Writing Minor teaches students how to write for almost any professional purpose, audience or format. That includes memos, letters to potential donors, grant applications, and publicity materials. In addition, our students learn about and practice new types of digital writing for ever-changing electronic workplaces.
Welcomed by Employers
Our Professional Writing program prepares you to enter writing-intensive fields including public relations, corporate communications, marketing, and advertising. Even if you do not go into a field specifically for technical or professional writers, strong writing proficiency and experience writing for a digital world are increasingly expected and welcomed by employers.
