Being able to pay for attending college is no easy task. Located in the Seay Building, the Office of Financial Aid offers assistance to you and your parents to ensure that you have the financial resources to focus on your education.
You are reading a university web page. Why? Sociology has the answers.
Centenary University’s Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sociology program focuses on the study of how people live and how they affect the world. In this program, you will learn how to define, analyze and understand complex human social systems to gain a deeper understanding of the most challenging issues of our time.
Our Sociology majors have the option to study general Sociology or pursue concentrations in:
- Criminal Justice
- Human Services
The Sociology curriculum includes a variety of coursework and service-learning experiences that will help you understand the social scientific method, and develop written, oral and critical thinking skills. You will examine contemporary moral and ethical social issues and the influences that shape them.
Sociology allows you to fine-tune your skills and apply them to a variety of careers. Our graduates have gone into careers in public relations, business, criminal justice, social services, government and more.
As a result, the Sociology major tends to attract people who easily relate to others and believe in supporting meaningful causes. (Not surprisingly, people including President Ronald Reagan, Martin Luther King Jr. and actor Robin Williams were all Sociology majors in college.)
Explore the Field
Working with our Career Development Office, students are encouraged to pursue internships to gain first-hand experience in the field. Past opportunities have included positions in social services, public relations, research, government and urban affairs.
