Centenary University Alert

Centenary University Alert: Centenary University will move to online instruction for the remainder of the semester, per executive order by NJ Gov. Murphy.

All clubs that would like to be recognized as an active club or organization under the Student Government Association, must complete a minimum of two (2) community service events per semester. One (1) event must be off campus in Hackettstown, and the other may be on or off campus. Community service is a great way to give back to your community, as well as promote your club or organization.

In order to complete your community service, you must submit a Community Service Request Form a minimum of three (3) weeks or 15 business days prior to your scheduled community service date. Your request will be voted on by the Student Government Association Executive Board, and you will receive an email from the VP of Clubs & Organizations within one (1) week either approving or denying your community service request. The Student Government Association Advisor has the right to overturn any decision made by the Executive Board.

For a completed community service event to meet Student Government Association requirements, it must:

  • Last a minimum of three (3) hours
  • Take place in Hackettstown (if off campus)
  • Have at least ½ of club/organization members participate

Community service events done on campus must follow the above requirements, and may be opened up to other students on campus to also help.
If you choose to do a Midnight Run as one of your community service events, it will count as an on campus event, and you must participate both in sandwich making and the run to New York City. If you do only sandwich making or only the run, it will count as half (1.5 hours) of your service requirement and you will have to complete the other 1.5 hours separately. Community service hours completed at Centenary University’s barn also count as on campus hours, though it is not on the Hackettstown campus.
Once your community service event has been completed, you must submit a printed Community Service Report to the Student Government Association within two (2) business days of completion of service.
