Dr. Caldwell, who has served as Centenary University president since July 1, 2023, was elected lieutenant governor of New Jersey in the recent general election.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ, Dec. 2, 2025—Centenary University today issued the following statement on the appointment of Dale G. Caldwell, Ed.D., as New Jersey’s next secretary of state:

“Centenary University proudly congratulates Dale G. Caldwell, Ed.D., who was recently elected New Jersey’s lieutenant governor and has now been appointed New Jersey secretary of state. Dr. Caldwell served as president of Centenary University for more than two years, leading the institution through a period of renewed vision, strengthened partnerships, and student-focused growth.

“Dr. Caldwell’s appointment reflects his deep commitment to public service, education, and community engagement—values that align closely with Centenary’s mission. The University celebrates this historic milestone and joins the State of New Jersey in recognizing his contributions.
