Swipe Exchange
Centenary University students can donate or request meal swipes through a new program. Centenary has partnered with its food provider, Sodexo to develop programs to address the food insecurities on campus. In the first phase, Sodexo created a meal swipe bank for students experiencing food insecurity. Through this confidential program, students who self-identify as food insecure may request meal swipes per semester. These swipes can be used in the cafeteria or at the Starbucks on campus.
Process for request:
Requests for swipes may be made through the Dean of Students Office in Student Life. The request form uses USDA recommended food security questions to determine level of food security, in addition to demographic questions meant to collect data for the Centenary University Hunger Free Task Force.
After filling out the request form, students will meet with the Dean of Students or designee, who will review their request and help determine the number of meals the students need as well as discuss other resources and support available on the campus and in the local community.
The meals allotment will be uploaded onto a card for their ease and use.
Throughout it all the student’s respect for privacy is paramount and therefore all communications are kept anonymous.
Student meal donation:
Students can also donate up to a predetermined number of meal swipes from their own block meal plans.
Emergency Housing
For students in need of emergency housing, please contact Residence Life at X2402 or residencelife@centenaryuniversity.edu.

CARE Team
The Centenary University CARE (Coordination, Assessment, Response, and Education) Team provides support and intervention for students experiencing difficulties that may impact their academic or social well-being within the university community. We recognize that the college experience can be overwhelming, with many students juggling academic responsibilities, social expectations, and personal struggles.
Our goal is to identify areas of concern early on and develop targeted strategies to help students succeed. By carefully reviewing each individual situation, we work collaboratively to create a tailored action plan that addresses the student’s specific needs and promotes a successful return to their academic and social pursuits.
The CARE Team is a working group comprised of representatives from multiple offices and departments across campus. The CARE Team meets on a weekly basis to conduct risk assessments and discuss non-emergent behavioral concerns that have been brought to its attention by members of the University and local communities.
For more information, visit our CARE Team page.
