Student Employment at Centenary University provides students with meaningful opportunities to earn income while developing professional skills that support academic success and future career goals. Through both Federal Work Study and University Work Study programs, students gain hands-on experience in a professional environment while contributing to the daily operations and mission of the University.
Whether working in academic departments, student support offices, campus operations, or specialized programs, student employees develop transferable skills such as communication, customer service, problem-solving, teamwork, technology proficiency, and professional responsibility. These experiences help students build resumes, expand their professional networks, and increase career readiness before graduation.

Student Employment Opportunities
Federal Work Study
Federal Work Study is a need-based program that provides eligible students with opportunities to earn wages through on-campus employment. Students interested in Federal Work Study should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as part of the financial aid process.
University Work Study
University Work Study positions are funded directly by Centenary University and provide additional opportunities for students to gain valuable professional experience while supporting university operations. Students considered for Federal Work Study may also be considered for University Work Study opportunities.

Work Study Options
Get on-the-job experience and earn money that can help defray your expenses with Federal Work Study or our own University Work Study program.
Working part time at Centenary during the academic year and full-time over the summer can help you pay for your education and expenses and adds valuable experience that can make you more attractive to future employers.
Federal Work Study
This U.S. Department of Education program funds up to 50% of your wages when you get a campus job as part of this program. Some jobs, like math or reading tutors, are 100% funded by the government. To qualify, you will work in a variety of jobs at Centenary.
You start the application process when you fill out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
University Work Study
These jobs are funded directly by Centenary, not the federal government. When you apply for the federal program above, you are also included as a candidate in this program. Be sure to send us your resume and follow up with us directly.
If you are a RETURNING student employee/work-study:
Step 1 – Complete the Student Section of the Student Employment Agreement (link to doc). Please type your digital signature on the form and email it to your supervisor for their digital signature. Your Supervisor will complete their section and forward the agreement to Financial Aid along with a job description. Be sure to download and save the document before completing it.  Do not print the form or obtain handwritten signatures.
Please note the following:
- Financial Aid will make the funding determination and send the information to Human Resources for processing.
- You will receive an email from Human Resources once you are approved to begin working. You may not start working without this approval. Â Typical processing time is between 5-10 business days. Â
- All student employees must enroll in Direct Deposit.
If you are a NEW (first time) student employee/work-study:
Step 1 – Complete the Student Section of the Student Employment Agreement. Please type your digital signature on the form and email it to your supervisor for completion. Your supervisor will forward the agreement to Financial Aid along with a job description. Be sure to download and save the document before completing it. Do not print the form or obtain handwritten signatures.
Please note the following:
- You will receive an email from Human Resources with the next steps in the electronic onboarding process once Financial Aid has been reviewed and determined funding.
- You may not start working without this approval. Typical processing time is between 5-10 business days.
- All student employees must enroll in Direct Deposit.
