HACKETTSTOWN, NJ, Jan. 13, 2026—Centenary University President John R. Schol has announced the appointment of Andy Cobb as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Reporting to the University president, Cobb will oversee all financial operations of the University, including financial management, resource allocation, and planning to develop strategies that align operations with institutional priorities for growth.

“We are excited to welcome Andy Cobb to Centenary University,” said President Schol. “His proven ability to lead with vision and integrity gives us confidence as we build a future where student success, university vitality, and world engagement remain at the heart of everything we do.”

Cobb brings a distinguished career in strategic finance, operational transformation, and collaborative leadership to Centenary. He most recently served as Assistant Vice President at AT&T, where he led large-scale financial operations, complex budgeting environments, and multi-year organizational change initiatives. Over his 20-plus years with AT&T, he held multiple CFO and director-level roles across diverse business units, consistently driving transparency, financial rigor, and sustainable performance.

Earlier in his career, Cobb held senior financial planning and analysis roles at MCI Telecommunications, where he developed the analytical foundation and modeling expertise that have become hallmarks of his leadership style.

Throughout his career, Cobb has been recognized for his ability to stabilize challenged operations, build trust across stakeholder groups, and translate complex financial realities into clear, actionable strategies. His work has spanned turnaround environments, customer-facing organizations, and large-scale service operations—experience that aligns directly with Centenary’s current priorities.

A Mission-Driven Focus

In accepting the role at Centenary, Cobb emphasized the University’s purpose and the opportunity to help shape its future. “Centenary’s mission, especially its commitment to first-generation college students and community impact, is what inspired me to join this community,” he said. “This is a moment that calls for clarity, discipline, and hope. I’m honored to work with President Schol and the leadership team to strengthen Centenary’s financial foundation for the long term.”

A resident of Madison, NJ, Cobb is dedicated to serving his community as a trustee/board member and CFO of the United Methodist Church and a board member and CFO of Acorn Academy. He also mentors students at Drew University and is a board member and coach for Madison Athletics.
