HACKETTSTOWN, NJ, SEP. 3, 2026—Centenary University has named former professional pitcher and collegiate coach Tim Bausher as head coach of the Cyclones baseball program.

Bausher’s appointment comes during a period of significant momentum for Centenary University as it continues to strengthen its academic offerings, student success initiatives, athletic programs, and strategic investments designed to enhance student experiences and prepare graduates for success in a rapidly changing workforce.

Bausher played professional baseball from 2001 through 2008, reaching the Major Leagues in 2005 when he was called up by the Boston Red Sox. Bausher also competed with the Seattle Mariners, Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies, Cincinnati Reds, and Kansas City Royals organizations.

“At Centenary University, we believe athletics is a powerful experience for developing leaders and transforming lives,” said President John Schol. “Coach Tim Bausher brings a remarkable combination of professional achievement, coaching success, and commitment to student development that will strengthen our baseball program and elevate the experience of every student-athlete he serves. His appointment reflects our broader commitment to excellence, and we are excited to see Centenary Baseball continue its rise as we prepare to join the United East Conference.”

Bausher takes the helm of a Centenary baseball program that achieved several milestones during the 2026 season, including becoming the first team in program history to host the Atlantic East Conference Championship Tournament. Under his leadership, the Cyclones will seek to build upon that progress, attract student-athletes throughout the region, and compete for championships while emphasizing academic achievement, leadership development, and community engagement.

Bausher joins Centenary after serving as the pitching coach at National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Pace University since 2019, during which the Setters won their first conference championship in program history in 2023 and added another conference championship in 2025. His coaching style is rooted in the fundamentals of fitness, discipline, teamwork, preparation, collaboration, and positive reinforcement to help train student-athletes to become the best possible versions of themselves.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tim Bausher as the next head baseball coach,” said Dan Armida, Director of Athletics, Centenary University. “He has lived this game at every level, and that kind of experience paired with a genuine commitment to developing players, character, and whole student-athlete is exactly who we want leading our program.”

Centenary will join the United East Conference on July 1, 2027, creating new competitive opportunities and adding to the momentum surrounding Cyclones Athletics. With a proven coach, a growing program, and strong support from alumni and friends, Centenary baseball is positioned for an exciting new era.

“I am honored and excited to become the head baseball coach at Centenary University,” Bausher said. “I feel humbled by the opportunity to run an NCAA college program. The leadership from the University and athletic department are exceptional, and I look forward to developing our baseball players as students and athletes.”
