Excused Medical Absences

Students seeking an excused absence for a medical condition must have their illness documented by either the Centenary Health Office or their own medical provider.

Students opting to be seen at the Centenary Health Office must call and schedule an appointment while they are ill (ext. #2209).

Students who are seen by their own medical provider or surgeon must upload documentation of their illness or condition from their medical provider to the Student Health Portal. This is to include the reason for the illness and the date of anticipated return to school.

For the student to receive an Excused Medical Absence they must ALSO contact Elizbeth Nowicki in The Office of Campus Life (elizabeth.nowicki@centenaryuniversity.edu) Email her a list of the student’s classes, professors, and the note from their medical provider.

CARE Team

The Centenary University CARE (Coordination, Assessment, Response, and Education) Team provides support and intervention for students experiencing difficulties that may impact their academic or social well-being within the university community. We recognize that the college experience can be overwhelming, with many students juggling academic responsibilities, social expectations, and personal struggles.

Our goal is to identify areas of concern early on and develop targeted strategies to help students succeed. By carefully reviewing each individual situation, we work collaboratively to create a tailored action plan that addresses the student’s specific needs and promotes a successful return to their academic and social pursuits.

The CARE Team is a working group comprised of representatives from multiple offices and departments across campus. The CARE Team meets on a weekly basis to conduct risk assessments and discuss non-emergent behavioral concerns that have been brought to its attention by members of the University and local communities.

Visit our CARE Team page for more information.
