The Journey Continues…
Executive Director, Washington Borough Business Improvement District
For Kristy Romanowski ’14, Centenary University was a place of connection, growth, and preparation for a career rooted in counseling, community building, creativity, and service. A resident of Washington, New Jersey, Kristy earned her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Centenary in 2014 while balancing graduate studies as a full-time employee and commuter student.
“Attending Centenary was an awesome experience,” Kristy shared. “I loved coming to campus and connecting with professors and classmates, many of whom I am still in touch with.”

Kristy credits Centenary with helping prepare her for the National Counselor Examination, which she passed on her path to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey. She also recalls spending many hours in the library completing her master’s project, building an academic foundation that continues to support her work today.
Today, Kristy serves as executive director of the Washington Borough Business Improvement District, where she focuses on revitalization, community events, and economic development. She is also the owner of Everbrook Counseling, LLC, founder and president of Conscious Community Creations, Inc., and a PhD candidate in Transpersonal Psychology at Sofia University.
Through her nonprofit work, Kristy leads community art, beautification, and research projects designed to bring people together. Her Coloring the Community Mural project in Washington, New Jersey, has earned congressional and legislative recognition.
Kristy’s future goals include expanding large-scale mural projects across the region, collecting data on the impact of community-based art, and eventually teaching students who want to make a difference in their own communities.
A proud mother to Everly, Brooks, and Brady, Kristy encourages today’s Centenary students to discover what makes them unique and use it to help others.
“Everyone is really good at something,” Kristy said. “Figure out what that is for you and work really hard to help others figure out their own passions.”
Kristy’s story reflects the power of a Centenary education — one that prepares graduates to serve with purpose, lead with creativity, and build stronger communities through connection, compassion, and meaningful action.
