Please join us on Saturday, November 11, 2023 for our Veterans Day Ceremony in the Reeves Gymnasium at 12:30 pm before the 1:00 pm start time of the Veterans Appreciation/Salute to Veterans game hosted by Men’s Basketball & Centenary Athletics.

Ceremony:

  • Blue Ridge American Legion Post 164 presents the Colors
  • National Anthem sung by Amanda Ackerman, a Centenary student majoring in Musical Theatre & Computer Science
  • Colors are retired
  • Welcome address by Dr. Dale Caldwell, 15th President of Centenary University
  • 1 pm Veterans Appreciation/Salute to Veterans game hosted by Men’s Basketball & Centenary Athletics

In Addition:

  • The Honor Tree will be on display in Reeves Student Recreation Center Lobby for the campus community & our visitors to hang a star to honor the veteran in their lives or to honor the troops in general
  • Annual Donations Drive to benefit residents at VA hospitals in Lyons & East Orange kicks off on 11/11 & runs until 11/30; items delivered to hospitals week of 12/4 (Items needed: Ground coffee/k-up coffee pods, Men’s/Women’s undergarments sizes S-4XL); Cash donations will go to the General Purpose Account at each hospital. Funds support programs for hospitalized veterans and the purchase of needed material items for veterans; Thank you to our community partners, NJ Federation of Women’s Clubs Highlands District, & the Woman’s Club of Hackettstown, for their participation & support.
  • 11/11 ONLY single serve non-perishable food drive to benefit Centenary food pantries in SAC & ASAC
  • Community Hope – Information display for the community-based SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant & Crisis Intervention program
  • Look for the official 2023 Veteran’s Day poster displayed throughout campus

Donation boxes for both drives will be located in Reeves Gym Lobby on 11/11. After 11/11 boxes for donations to the VA hospital residents will be located in the ASAC lobby in the Harris & Betts Smith Learning Center (Smith Learning Center & Library Annex), in the main lobby of SEAY, & the Hackettstown Library.
