Centenary University magazine features Boonton, N.J., resident in cover story focusing on Future U career goals of successful students

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J., Aug. 8, 2019—For Jodi Day, attending classes is as much a part of the work day as attending meetings. A director at ACME Plastics, Day has ensured that her job skills remain relevant in the marketplace through earning certifications in pharmaceutical, tech, real estate, and small business. Soon, the Boonton, N.J., resident will add an M.B.A. from Centenary University’s School of Professional Studies to her already impressive resume.

“I felt it was time to pull together all that I’ve learned and acquire the one degree that could give me more opportunities,” Day said of her decision to seek an M.B.A. She plans to complete her master’s degree next year.

Day is one of seven students featured in the cover story of the most recent issue of the Centenarian, the University’s alumni magazine. Called “The Future U,” the story spotlights outstanding students and the futures they envision as a result of earning a Centenary University degree. The story is part of a wider campaign of the same name, which highlights Centenary’s career-focused educational approach.

At Centenary’s School of Professional Studies, supportive faculty have helped Day to sharpen on-the-job skills like public speaking, time management, and strategic planning. With campuses in Parsippany and Edison, the School of Professional Studies offers undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs specifically designed for adult learners, who value the ability to complete their studies with flexible scheduling including in-class, online, and blended course options.

“The faculty at Centenary is tremendously supportive,” said Day. “I feel like they’re really in my corner. Now, I encourage other adults who are going back to school to seize every moment and take on the world with passion.”
