Biography

Dr. Kochis has served as Shared Superintendent of Stillwater Township School District and Sandyston-Walpack Consolidated School District in Sussex County, NJ since July, 2020.  After graduating from Montclair State University, Dr. Kochis began teaching elementary general education at Apshawa Elementary School in West Milford Township School District. After earning his M.A. in Educational Leadership at Montclair State University, Dr. Kochis was hired as Principal of Clifton E. Lawrence School in Wantage, N.J. After spending two years in this role, he accepted the position of Principal at Hazel Avenue Elementary School in West Orange, N.J.  After three years in the West Orange School District, he accepted the role of Superintendent for Stillwater Township School District which later developed into his current position as Shared Superintendent with Sandyston-Walpack Consolidated School District.  Over the past years, Dr. Kochis has taken on a variety of leadership roles including being a mentor in the NJL2L program and Vice President of the Sussex County Superintendents’ Roundtable Association.
