An organization with a long-standing commitment to using entrepreneurial action as a catalyst for progress, the ENACTUS name was chosen by abbreviating the core principles “Entrepreneurial Action Us.”
ENtrepreneurial – having the perspective to see an opportunity and talent to create value from that opportunity
ACTion – the willingness to do something and the commitment to see it through even when the outcome is not guaranteed
US – a collection of people who see themselves connected in some important way; individuals that are part of a greater whole
History of ENACTUS
Founded in 1975, originally as SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise), ENACTUS is a non-profit educational organization that works with business and higher education. It provides college students with the leadership experience of establishing a variety of community outreach programs that teach others how market economics and business operate.
ENACTUS business supporters (individuals, corporations, and foundations) provide financial support for ENACTUS competitions, serve as judges and competition coordinators, and provide funds for prize money and trophies awarded to winning teams. By partnering businesses with higher education, ENACTUS creates career building connections between college students and ENACTUS donors.
ENACTUS at Centenary University
For over ten years at Centenary University, more than 1,000 students have participated in ENACTUS projects and presentations. Our team members hail from more than thirty-five countries across five continents, with a range of more than fifteen different majors. Their participation has included the development and implementation of more than 1,000.
“The Centenary University Enactus team tackles projects that range from local to global, including trips that have brought them to places as far as Singapore and Colombia, but they all have one thing in common: identifying people in need and helping them to help themselves through the positive power of business. We have an award winning team, receiving many times over the Regional Champion title and National recognition for its projects.”
We are Regional Champions
The Centenary University ENACTUS team won First Runner Up at the Opening Round of the Nationals competition. “It was a difficult road but we have finished in the top 40, better than last year, and we couldn’t be more proud!” stated Professor Kathy Naasz in her announcement to the community.
So what is in store for next year? We are heading back and will be stronger than ever! Congratulations team!
The Centenary College ENACTUS team was named Regional Champions at the Enactus United States Regional Competition held in New York City last week. This event is one of 10 Regional Competitions being held across the United States in March and April.
“This is a wonderful accomplishment for our Enactus team,” says Professor Kathy Naasz, Associate Professor of Business at Centenary College and Centenary College Enactus Advisor. “Our students have invested countless hours in their projects. The entire campus community is so pleased that they are being recognized in this manner for their hard work. We look forward to competing at the National level next month!”
Congratulations to this year’s Regional Champions! Everyone at Centenary University is so proud of you!
