New program allows students to earn undergraduate business degree and MBA in five years

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J., March 25, 2019—Centenary University has introduced a new 4+1 BS/ MBA, which allows qualified students to complete an undergraduate bachelor’s degree in business (BS) and a master of business administration (MBA) in just five years. The dual degree option offers a seamless track that positions Centenary graduates to succeed in competitive business environments.

“The 4+1 BS/MBA offers our students a great opportunity and value, as well as a competitive edge,” said Cheryl Veronda, chair of Centenary’s Business Department and professor of business. “This degree is widely recognized as preparation for executive positions in business. Also, our professors have significant professional experience, bridging the gap between theory and practice with their real-world approach.”

Veronda noted that the median base salary in the United States for MBA graduates is $105,000, according to the Graduate Management Admissions Council. The organization also reports that 85% of employers intend to hire MBA graduates this year. She added, “MBAs earn 50% more in starting salary than employees with a bachelor’s degree. In addition, many employers require an MBA for advancement.”

Centenary University business students are eligible to apply for the 4+1 BS/MBA at the end of the fall semester of junior year. To qualify for admission, they must complete 56 credits—including economics, accounting, and statistics with a grade of B or better—and have a minimum 3.3 grade point average. Applicants must also submit a personal statement and complete an interview with the MBA program director. No GRE or GMAT is required. Once accepted, students begin taking MBA courses during senior year, and remain another year after earning an undergraduate degree to complete the advanced degree.
