Enrollment and Certification
Using your education benefits at Centenary University requires enrolling in Centenary classes once you have been admitted to the university and requesting enrollment certification through the Office of Veteran Services. Eligibility for education benefits is always determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
For each semester (or accelerated class) that you want to have your enrollment certified through the Office of Veteran Services at Centenary University you must submit an Enrollment Certification Request to the Veteran Services office as soon as you are registered for class(es).
Reporting Enrollment Changes to VA
Changes to your schedule/enrollment must be reported to VA. If you make changes to your schedule, please complete the Schedule Change Notification form and submit it to the Office of Veteran Services.
**Please be advised that changes to enrollment often result in an overpayment, which is determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs.**
New or Transfer Students Using GI® Bill
Using your education benefits as determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs at Centenary University requires enrolling in Centenary classes once you have been admitted to the university and requesting enrollment certification through the Office of Veteran Services.
- Complete the 22-1990» to establish your eligibility for education benefits. A processed application generates a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from VA, which is an official letter outlining your entitlement. The Office of Veteran Services will require a copy of your COE and a copy of your DD214 (Member-4) reflecting honorable discharge.
- Apply for Admission and/or enroll in an approved program at Centenary University.
- Once you have registered/enrolled in classes, submit the following forms to the Office of Veteran Services:
- Enrollment Certification Request
- Copy of Degree Audit Sheet/Academic Plan and Transcript Evaluation Sheet
When you submit these forms to our office you will receive an emailed receipt. Likewise, once your enrollment has been certified with the Department of Veteran Affairs you will receive an email notification/confirmation from our office. All email notifications will be sent to your Centenary University student address. It is your responsibility to check this account on a regular basis.

Guest Students Status Using GI Bill® – Primary/Secondary
If you are a guest student from another college follow these guidelines:
- Apply for admission to Centenary University
- Request a Parent School letter from your primary institution’s School Certifying Official and have it sent to Centenary’s Office of Veteran Services.
- Complete and submit the Enrollment Certification Request
- Once the Centenary Office of Veteran Services receives your paperwork and you are officially enrolled in approved classes at Centenary, your enrollment will be certified through VA and an email confirming same will be sent to you from our office.
Please Note: All email notifications will be sent to your Centenary University student address. It is your responsibility to check this account on a regular basis.
Guest Student at Secondary Institution
If you are a current Centenary University student and have approval to take a course at another institution follow these guidelines:
- Complete the Admissions process at the secondary school.
- Submit to our office the signed authorization/approval from your Academic Advisor to take a course at another institution and request a Primary School letter from our office to bring to the secondary institution’s School Certifying Official.
- Upon course completion, please have your transcripts from the secondary school sent to the Registrar at Centenary University. Providing that the course was completed and a sufficient grade earned, credit will then be evaluated for transfer, if all requirements to have been met.
To Verify Attendance to VA
You are required to verify your attendance every month if you are enrolled at an Institution of Higher Learning and are receiving benefits from one of the following:
- Montgomery GI Bill® – Active Duty
- Montgomery GI Bill®– Selected Reserve

Called to Active Duty/Re-admittance Policy and Procedures
The following deployment/readmission policies and procedures are provided in order to minimize disruptions or inconveniences for Centenary University students fulfilling their military responsibilities.
Read the policy located on pages 29-30 of the Undergraduate Catalog.
Payments from the Department of Veterans Affairs
Payment is always determined by VA and is based on:
- the benefit for which you are eligible; and,
- the number of credit hours in which you are enrolled; and,
- whether you are enrolled in on-ground courses or distance learning courses
VA pays tuition and fees directly to the institution under the Post-9/11 GI Bill™ and Chapter 31 (VR&E). All other payments are made directly to the veteran/veteran dependent. Usually, VA pays on the 1st of the month for the prior month. If you stop attending, but do not officially withdraw, our office is required to report that information along with the last date of attendance to VA. Student debt will be a result of non-attendance and VA will notify you of the overpayment / monies owed by you to them. You are required to report any changes in enrollment to Centenary’s Office of Veteran Services as soon as possible, so that we, in turn, can properly inform VA.
