The Office of Veteran Services is a One-Stop location where you can ask questions and get answers. It has been established on firm ground to provide valuable services and resources to student veterans, veteran dependents, active military, and reservists in the Centenary community.
Internal and external services and resources are designed to provide the necessary tools to help facilitate a seamless transition to the academic arena, a successful integration to the campus community, and career planning for your future beyond the classroom.
Orientations
Orientations for new student veterans and veteran dependents are held in August of each year before the start of the fall semester and in January of each year prior to the start spring semester. Sessions are held in the Veteran’s Resource Center (VRC) and hosted by the Director of Veteran Services. Orientations are designed to be informative with the intent of acclimating students to the campus as well as providing information about internal and external services and resources. Representatives from various external support services, i.e. VA Healthcare Outreach, the VetCenters, etc. are on-hand to answer questions, to provide information on services and resources, and to help with the VA application processes, if required. The Academic Success and Advising Center
Academic Coaching
Assist undergraduate students in developing strategies to meet their educational goals. Topics addressed include managing time, goal setting, effective studying techniques, and accessing campus resources.
CRLA Certified Tutoring Program
Professional tutors lead Mentored Study Groups, staff the Math Lab and tutor individual undergraduate students as well. Tutoring services are free.
Skill Building Workshops
One-hour workshops on various topics offered each semester to teach effective strategies to help students meet academic goals. Note taking, Time Management, Stress Relief Techniques, and Textbook Mapping are a few of the workshops that are designed to help students build their academic skill sets. Workshops are open to undergraduate and graduate students.
Disability Services Office
The Disability Services Office offers a full range of accommodations and works with students to develop strategies to overcome the impacts of disabilities.

Readjustment Counseling Services
The Office of Veteran Services at Centenary University has joined forces in a co-venture of resources and services with the VetCenters of Bloomfield and Secaucus to offer counseling appointments as well as various group sessions located on the main campus in Brotherton 011. Readjustment counselors are available at this outpost location on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am – 2pm Counseling is available to combat arena veterans attending Centenary University as well as those living in the greater community.

The Office of Veteran Services at Centenary University is here to assist you and provide you with services and resources. The VetCenter is an agency of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. Their services are free, unlimited, and open to anyone who has served in a war zone. They are experienced and well-versed in military culture, and possess a sensitivity and commitment to “those who have borne the battle.”

Student Veteran’s Organization (SVO)
“The Student Veteran’s Organization (SVO) at Centenary University was established to bring awareness of the student veteran population to the campuses of Centenary University. Student veterans are non-traditional students who have full-time jobs, families, or other obligations. The main goal of the SVO is to help veterans transition from military to civilian life in a non-military manner, while ensuring their success in a welcoming and appreciative environment. The SVO will actively be involved in the Centenary University community and the greater Hackettstown community and to the service of veterans in need and their families.”

Career Center
From one-on-one career advising to constructing resumes and cover letters, the Career Center can help veterans effectively translate their skills to yield success in the civilian job market.
Located in the first floor of the SEAY Building, the Career Center introduces students to a wealth of resources and access to internships, alumni mentors, and job leads, helping each student pinpoint their career interests and secure opportunities suited to their interests, values, and skill sets.

American Corporate Partners (ACP) Executive Mentoring Program
American Corporate Partners, New York, New York, is a nationwide mentoring program that matches employees from some of the nation’s finest corporations with OIF/OEF veterans. Mentors are upper level employees from one of ACP’s participating companies. It is a one year program for the purpose of networking, career counseling, and mentoring. ACP’s program assists veterans to develop valuable business relationships and skill sets required for success in the civilian workplace.
The list of participating corporations is impressive. In-person mentorships are available in many cities nationwide and e-mentoring is also available for those who do not live in urban areas.
Anyone who has served on active duty since 2001 is eligible to participate in this free program. Those who were deployed in support of OIF/OEF and those with service-connected disabilities are given preference in the program.
